My Statement/objective

My objectives:
Design a system/service that helps reduce consumer waste to create second-use for consumer packaging and ways to recycle existing items in the consumer’s homes by creating an interactive book with tools and tips to reuse and recycle waste.

What my concepts will do and promote:
To create a tool in which people of all ages can learn the benefits of finding second uses for waste and how simple it is to help the environment.

My target audience:
I hope to reach a broad audience including:
  • Low-income families; Individuals looking for way to cut back on costs of living,
  • students or young people on their own trying to save money
  • Children of all ages - teaching them good green habits from the start
  • People who want to change, but do not know when, where or how to start
  • People who are already making changes and are open to making more
  • People who think they cannot make a difference in the environment

How I want the target audience to react:
I want my target audience to react in confidence and to feel empowered about the information. I want them to learn that by doing even small things I am listing in the book they CAN make a difference in the environment.

My design elements:
I am designing for frugality and consumer sustainability. With this in mind I plan to use what is around me already in existence. My media and design elements will be by reusing existing items to create a message.

My visual style - personality and tone of voice:
I want the design to be simple, vibrant and playful. I want the audience to have fun in learning how they can help the environment and how easy it can be to make a difference. Ultimately we all can make small changes that will add up to huge benefits.
